Police Hunt Tips on Katherine Indecent Assault

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to an aggravated burglary and indecent assault incident that occurred in Katherine last night.

Around 9:45pm, police received reports of an unknown group of offenders attempting to enter a residence on Elliot Street, Katherine South.

Up to 5 offenders, armed with knives, have allegedly entered the residence and restrained the sole female resident before indecently assaulting her and stealing property.

Family members of the victim arrived before police, with the offenders fleeing the scene.

A short time later, officers apprehended a 14-year-old male youth, who is currently assisting police with enquiries.

Investigations remain ongoing.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Lawson said, " This was an incredibly traumatic, serious incident and Detectives from Crime and the Katherine Criminal Investigations Branch are currently working to arrest everyone who was involved.
