Police Investigate After Man Assaulted In Melbourne CBD

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was seriously assaulted and left unconscious in Melbourne's CBD in October.

The 30-year-old French national was asleep on the footpath near the intersection of King Street and Lonsdale Street when he was approached by five men about 3.40am on 19 October.

One of the men kicked the victim to the face.

Officers located the victim unconscious, and he was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The offenders fled the scene and four of the men were arrested on Lonsdale Street shortly after.

They were spoken to by police and released pending summons.

Investigators have released an image and CCTV of the fifth man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man is described as Caucasian, about 180 cm tall, with a thin build, short black hair, a black beard and wearing black puffer jacket and black shorts.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, with vision or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or anonymously report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
