Police Investigate Armed Robbery At Nerang 7 January

Police have arrested three juveniles in connection with an armed robbery incident at Nerang on January 5.

Around 9pm it is alleged that two teenage boys were approached by four people travelling in a stolen Nissan X-Trail while walking along on Explorers Way.

It is alleged three people exited the vehicle armed with knives, while the driver remained in the vehicle.

One of the victims handed over his phone before a nearby resident intervened and the offenders fled the scene in the Nissan.

It will be alleged the vehicle was stolen from Carrara on January 4.

Around 4.45pm on January 6, police located the stolen Nissan X-Trail on Rivergum Drive at Nerang.

Shortly after, with assistance from the Dog Squad, officers apprehended two boys in the vicinity of Weedons Road and a third boy was located a short time later in the Nerang River and taken into custody.

A 13-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, both from Highland Park, have been charged with one count each of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and receiving tainted property.

They were remanded in custody and are due to appear at Southport Children's Court today, January 7.

A second 17-year-old boy was dealt with in accordance with the Youth Justice Act.

Investigations are continuing.
