Police Investigate Armed Robbery At Toowoomba City

Police have charged two men following an armed robbery of a tobacco store in Toowoomba City on February 25.

At approximately 12.30pm it is alleged two men entered the store on Russell Street threatening a female employee with a knife and demanding cash.

It is then alleged one of the offenders went behind the counter and wrestled with the employee before stealing a quantity of smoking products.

Both offenders then fled the store leaving the scene in a maroon coloured 2009 model Nissan utility.

The 23-year-old store employee received minor injuries.

Police arrested both men at an Oakey address a short time later.

A 22-year-old St George man has been charged with one count each of enter with intent and armed robbery.

An 18-year-old Harristown man has been charged with one count each of enter with intent, armed robbery, stealing, wilful damage, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evasion and failing to take reasonable care and precautions in respect to syringe or needle.

Both men are due to face Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
