Merri-Bek Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an attack on a woman riding her bike in Glenroy on 14 December.
The woman was riding her bike in an easterly direction on the bike track north of Bindi and Widford Street around 11.20am.
An unknown male stood in the middle of the track, jumping up and down and waving his arms.
The man did not move so she had to swerve, and as she rode past, he pushed her off the bike.
She fell to the ground, and he proceeded to kick her multiple times.
The woman tried to run away but he chased her and continued to assault her.
She managed to get away and continued running until she reached the intersection of Widford and Bindi Street and called Triple zero.
The 33-year-old Fawkner woman was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The male is perceived to be of middle eastern appearance, aged 40-50-years old with short dark facial hair, thin dark hair, 162cm tall and a medium build.
He was wearing black pants and shirt, the top had black and purple shapes or a pattern on the front.
He was also wearing a canvas cross body bag.
Investigators have released a facial composite of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
