Police have charged a 16-year-old Gulliver boy following an alleged break and enter in Annandale on March 23.
It will be alleged around 8.30pm, the boy entered a Linaria Court property armed with a multi-grip tool and threatened a child.
The boy allegedly stole car keys, before attempting to steal the occupant's vehicle, which was fitted with an engine immobiliser.
No one was injured.
It is alleged a further attempt was made by the boy to enter a home on Fardon Street a short time later.
Following ongoing investigations, the boy was arrested last night, April 1.
He was charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of enter dwelling and commit, and one count each of stealing, attempted enter dwelling with intent at night, enter premises with intent to commit, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle use in the night or threatened to use actual violence or pretend to be armed.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Townsville Childrens Court today, April 2.
Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said police are continuing to crack down on property offending in Townsville.
"We will not tolerate any attempts of violence in the community and are continuing to tackle youth crime from every angle," Detective Inspector Shepherd said.
"Everyone should feel, and be safe, and we will continue working to disrupt youth offending, and seek justice for victims."
