A 35 year old man is in police custody following an attempted robbery in Walkerston this evening in which a man was shot.
Preliminary information indicates that at around 7.45pm a man was allegedly attempting to steal a car from outside a Bold Street hotel motel when he was confronted by a member of the public.
A 34-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was transported to hospital with what is believed to be a serious injury.
Other members of the public managed to restrain the offender with police arriving on the scene soon after. Police arrested the 35-year-old man and he is currently assisting police with their investigations.
