Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an alleged attempted kidnapping which occurred in Melbourne last year.
Investigators have been told the victim, a 36-year-old woman, was contacted on 4 November by people purporting to be from Chinese immigration and police.
They told her her phone number had been used in local scams.
The victim was kept on the phone for a number of hours and provided numerous personal details before the call was concluded.
The next day a woman attended the victim's address claiming to have a warrant for her arrest.
The victim and her friend confronted the woman and started filming the woman which caused her to leave.
Investigators have released an image of a woman they believe may assist with their enquiries.
