Police Investigate Collins Street Shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting in Melbourne's CBD this morning.

Police were patrolling Collins Street when a member of the public advised a person had been shot about 6.30am.

A dark-coloured Ford Territory drove towards officers on Collins Street, before one officer drew his firearm.

The vehicle fled the scene.

Police were then approached by the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound.

The 20-year-old Smythes Creek man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The offenders remain outstanding this stage.

Investigations remain ongoing and police believe the people involved are known to each other.
