Police Investigate Damage To Prime Minister Statues

Ballarat police are investigating after a large number of statues were vandalised in Lake Wendouree on 23 January.

Officers received reports that about 20 statues were damaged in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens on Wendouree Parade, sometime between 2-5am.

The statue heads of two former Australian prime ministers have been removed and stolen.

The name plates of the remaining statues have been covered in spray paint.

It is estimated the damage is worth over $140,000.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in the area to come forward.
