Port Augusta Police are seeking witnesses that assisted an injured woman at Port Augusta on New Year's Day to contact police.
Just after 11.30am on New Year's Day (Wednesday 1/1/20) police and ambulance crews attended Gladstone Square on the Jervois Street side, locating a woman collapsed with injuries to her face.
The 37-year-old Indulkana woman was taken to the local Port Augusta Hospital, where she was admitted for treatment, but sadly she died in hospital the next day, Thursday 2 January.
Later that day on Thursday, Port Augusta Detectives investigating the incident, arrested a 36-year-old man who was known to the victim and charged him with aggravated assault cause harm and breaching an intervention order.
A post mortem examination will now be conducted to determine the cause of the woman's death.
Port Augusta Police are now seeking up to three men, who assisted the woman on New Year's Day at Gladstone Square, prior to police arrival, to please come forward and contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at http://crimestopperssa.com.au
