Police Investigate Dumbalk North Firearms Incident

Armed Crime Squad detectives are investigating after shots were fired at police in Victoria's south-east this afternoon.

Investigators from the Illicit Firearms Squad attended a Foster-Mirboo Road address in Dumbalk North to execute a firearms warrant about 1.30pm.

At this early stage in the investigation, it's believed a man who resides at the address has fired shots at detectives.

They have returned fire and the man has fled the scene on foot.

No police officers were physically injured during the incident.

The area has been cordoned off and a significant police presence will be on scene until the offender is located.

Police are urging members of the public to avoid the area.
