Police are investigating a fatal crash on Frankford Road, Frankford, between a truck and a car in which a 56 year old North-West man was killed, Tasmania Police say.
Police were called to a crash between an orange Citroen hatch and a truck on Frankford Road, west of the junction with Birralee Road, about 10am today.
Investigations are continuing regarding the cause of the crash and a report is being prepared for the Coroner. Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.
Initial investigations indicate that the car lost control negotiating a left hand sweeping corner, crossed to the wrong side of the road and into the path of an oncoming truck.
The impact of the crash caused the car to catch fire, which in turn engulfed the truck’s cabin. Tasmania Fire Service attended and extinguished the fire.
Police including Forensics, Crash Investigation and Deloraine Division Uniform assisted at the scene.
