Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery in Melbourne on 15 February.
Investigators have been told the victim was walking north along Anthony Street from Abeckett Street when he was approached by the offender walking the opposite direction about 4.45pm.
The offender threatened the victim with a knife before demanding he hand over his mobile phone.
The victim complied before the offender asked him to log out of his phone accounts.
Once the offender handed the phone back, the victim fled.
The offender attempted to find the victim before he then left the area.
Officers from the Melbourne Divisional Response Unit have released images and CCTV of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
The man is perceived to be African in appearance, approximately 170cm tall, of thin build, with short, close cropped black hair.
He was seen wearing a black 'North Face' hooded jacket, dark blue shorts, black 'Nike' sneakers with white highlights and was carrying a blue jacket.
