Police are appealing for information following two robberies in Wollongong overnight, which are believed to be linked.
About 10.20pm (Saturday 1 January 2022), officers attached to Wollongong Police District were called to a service station on Crown Street, following reports of an armed robbery.
Police have been told a man, believed to be armed, entered the service station and threatened a male attendant, demanding cash.
The man left the scene a short time later, taking cash.
Officers attended and searched the area, locating a knife nearby. It has been seized for forensic examination.
About 2.10am (Sunday 2 January 2022), a man entered a second service station on Crown Street and approached and threatened a male attendant, demanding cash.
The man left the service station a short time later, taking cash. He was last seen walking north along Darling Street, towards Loftus Street.
The service station attendants were uninjured.
Police commenced investigations into the incidents, which are believed to be linked.
As investigations continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist.
He is described as being approximately 175cm – 180cm tall and was seen wearing a black 'Michael Jordan' hooded jumper, light-coloured jeans, gloves, dark shoes and a light-coloured t-shirt which was covering his face.
