Police investigate Sebastopol stabbing

Police are investigating after two men were assaulted in Sebastopol early this morning, Victoria Police say.

Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives have been told the victim drove his car with a friend to a car park off Vickers Street when an altercation ensued with two other men.

During the altercation the 22-year-old victim sustained a stab wound in the lower back and his 20-year-old’s friend sustained head and facial injuries.

It’s believed the two offending men then fled in the victim’s Holden Commodore sedan which was later located burnt out in Bond Street, Ballarat about 6.40am.

The Wendouree man underwent surgery for his non-life threatening stab wounds and he remains in hospital.

His Wendouree friend sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police are yet to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
