Police investigate serious assault at Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are investigating a serious assault in which two people suffered serious head injuries in Alice Springs overnight.

Just before 1:20am police responded to a report of a group of people fighting with sticks outside an East Side home.

On arrival police located two males, aged 17 and 18 years old, with significant head injuries as a result of the disturbance.

The pair were transported to the Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

The 18 year old man is in a serious but stable condition, while the 17 year old male remains in a critical condition.

The area has been declared a crime scene and cordoned off whilst Detectives from the Southern Criminal Investigation Branch investigate.
