Police are investigating the serious assault of a man in Mackay overnight.
At 1.45am, emergency services were called to a Macalister Street address following reports of a physical disturbance.
On arrival, a 60-year-old man was located with serious head wounds. He was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A 32-year-old man was is assisting police with their inquiries.
A crime scene has been declared at the address while detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault.
