Police Investigate Serious Assault At South Brisbane 18 June

Police have charged a man after a woman was allegedly assaulted in South Brisbane overnight, June 17.

It will be alleged shortly before 9pm, a 25-year-old man approached a 58-year-old woman at a community hall on Cordelia Street.

The man started a conversation with the woman before allegedly assaulting the woman while holding a pair of scissors.

The woman sustained non-life-threatening wounds to her head and face and was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

Police arrested the man at the scene.

The 25-year-old West End man has been charged with one count each of assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, wilful damage and contravene direction of a police officer.

He is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, June 18.
