Detectives are investigating following several incidents that occurred between Murgon, Wondai and Cherbourg overnight, June 8, including the serious assault of a 70-year-old man in his home.
At approximately 4am, three males have reportedly entered an Outridge Street property where they demanded car keys and a mobile phone from the occupant, a 70-year-old man, before assaulting him with a wooden stick.
The trio were unsuccessful in stealing the man's vehicle, and left the property in a Nissan X-Trail, which was reportedly stolen from a home in Murgon earlier that night.
The vehicle was later located burnt out on Wondai Road in Cherbourg.
The 70-year-old male was transported to Kingaroy Hospital with non-life threatening head injuries.
Detectives are appealing to anyone with information, or relevant CCTV or dashcam vision, to immediately come forward.
