Police are investigating if two incidents at Paralowie last night are linked after a police officer was struck by a car and a man was found collapsed in an alleyway.
Just after 9pm on Monday 29 August, police attempted to stop a blue Ford Falcon sedan on Mildara Avenue. The Ford was followed into a cul-de-sac at Tolley Close where two police officers exited their cars to speak with the occupants.
The driver of the Ford then did a u-turn and attempted to drive between the two parked police cars. One officer managed to get out of the way however the other officer was struck by the vehicle before it sped off. The police officer sustained severe bruising to his leg and was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment.
Police located the Ford a short time later abandoned in Kalimna Crescent however the occupants were not located.
Just after 9.30pm, police and ambulance received a report of a man found collapsed and unconscious in an alleyway off of Cawarra Crescent. Witnesses reported that the man had tried to open a resident's roller door before walking off into the alleyway.
The 36-year-old man from Elizabeth East was rushed to the Lyell McEwin Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Police are investigating whether the man was an occupant of the Ford sedan or is linked to the earlier incident.
Forensic Crime Scene Investigators and Major Crash Investigators attended to examine the scene.
Northern District CIB Detectives are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
