Police investigate Sunbury aggravated burglary

Police are investigating an aggravated burglary which occurred in Sunbury on Tuesday morning that has left a man with serious injuries, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told a 47-year-old man heard a noise in his house just after 4am on 25 September.

He went downstairs and saw a man in his Jeep Cherokee, starting up the vehicle.

The owner tried to open the driver’s side door but the offender continued to drive away.

The owner fell underneath the car and was run over by the rear driver’s side wheel.

The offender drove off and left the victim in his driveway on Riddell Road with serious injuries including broken ribs, a fractured femur and leg wounds.

The white Jeep was seen on Old Lancefield Road near Savages Lane in Woodend about 4.50am.

It was involved in a collision at 6.10am on Tylden Woodend Road in Woodend, side swiping a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

The Jeep was found dumped on Corks Road in Macedon about 7am.

The offender is described as aged in his mid to late 20s with a solid build and dark-coloured hair.

Investigators are hoping to speak to anyone who saw the white Jeep Cherokee on the morning of Tuesday 25 September or anyone with dash cam footage of the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
