An investigation is underway following a suspicious building fire in Sydney's north-west overnight.
Emergency services were called to a retail store on Sherwood Street, Northmead about 12.30am (Friday 24 December 2021), after reports of a building fire.
Fire & Rescue attended, and extinguished the blaze; however, the building sustained significant damage.
The occupants of residential units above the store were evacuated. No injuries have been reported.
Officers from Parramatta Police established a crime scene, which will undergo specialist forensic examination.
Detectives have commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
