Police investigate suspicious house fire at Blacktown

An investigation is underway following a house fire in Sydney's west overnight.

About 1.15am (Saturday 1 January 2022), officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command were conducting patrols of the local area when they observed a home on Clifton Street, Blacktown, engulfed in flames.

Fire and rescue NSW arrived a short time later and extinguished the blaze; however, the building sustained significant damage.

The home was unoccupied and no injuries have been reported.

Police established a crime scene, which will undergo specialist forensic examination.

Detectives have commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
