Police Investigating Arson At Miles End

Five young people have been arrested, and three charged, following the alleged arson of a business in Miles End last night, January 31.

Police were called to a Wellington Road business around 10.30pm following reports of a structure fire.

The Mount Isa Criminal Investigation Branch located a group of five children nearby a short time later.

A 14-year-old Happy Valley girl has been charged one count each of arson (structure or building) and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

She has been refused police bail and is due to appear in Mount Isa Childrens Court today, February 1.

A 14-year-old Pioneer boy has been charged with two counts of stealing one count each of arson (structure or building) and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

He has been refused police bail and is due to appear in Mount Isa Childrens Court today, February 1.

A 15-year-old Townview boy has been charged with one count each of count of arson (structure or building), enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and endangering particular property by fire.

He has been dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Two further young people are assisting police with enquiries.
