Police are investigating a serious crash at Turners Marsh last night, where a man sustained serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to Pipers River Road about 6.45pm, where an ATV vehicle – a Honda FourtTrax – had crashed.
The 49-year-old man who was riding the ATV was transported to the Launceston General Hospital with serious injuries.
Inspector Nick Clark said, "Police attended several serious crashes across the state over the weekend, and it's timely that we urge all motorists to obey the road rules."
"Whether you're driving a vehicle, a motorcycle, or an ATV, it's important you do the right thing to prevent crashes."
"If you do the wrong thing, you put your life, and the lives of other road users, at risk of death or serious injury."
"Police will continue to patrol the roads, but we need motorists to help us by taking responsibility for their actions and remembering and adhering to the 'fatal five' every time they travel on our roads."
Motorists are urged to remember the 'fatal five' contributors to crashes:
- Obey the speed limit - it's there for a reason.
- Pay attention - one moment of distraction is all it takes to cause a crash.
- Rest if you're tired - arriving late is better than not arriving at all.
- Buckle up every person in the vehicle - seatbelts save lives.
- Never drive after drinking or taking drugs - you'll be putting more than your life on the line.
