Police have charged four juveniles following a robbery and car theft in Aitkenvale yesterday.
Around 12.50pm, on Wednesday, November 1, in a car park of a fast-food outlet on Alfred Street, police will allege four juveniles approached two women in their 60s who were walking to their car. One of the juveniles stole a handbag from one of the women and used her car keys to steal her Toyota Rav4.
Police will further allege a bystander tried to prevent the Rav4 from driving away and was knocked to the ground. The man left the scene and did not make a complaint to police.
One male juvenile fled on foot. Three juveniles fled in the Rav4.
The male, a 15-year-old Pimlico boy, who fled on foot was located and arrest a short time later. He was charged with robbery in company and was refused bail to appear in Townsville Childrens Court.
Around 1.30am this morning, on Dalrymple Road, Mount Louisa, police successfully intercepted the Rav4 using a TDD (tyre deflation device). The car was located on Bamford Lane a short time later.
Three juveniles were located at the scene and taken into custody.
A 14-year-old Kelso girl was charged with stealing from a person, robbery in company and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. She was refused bail to appear in Townsville Childrens Court.
A 14-year-old Wulguru boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He was refused bail to appear in Townsville Childrens Court.
A 12-year-old Annandale boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He was refused bail to appear in Townsville Childrens Court.
The investigation is ongoing.
