Detectives have commenced a major investigation following the shooting of a 22-year-old man at Amamoor, south of Gympie overnight.
Around 8.15pm the man was driven, in the back of a utility, to Gympie Hospital with a gunshot wound to his head.
The man was treated by doctors before being transferred to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Following police inquiries, a crime scene was established at a Frayne Road property in Amamoor.
An Investigation Centre (IC) has commenced at Gympie Police Station as inquiries continue.
