Police investigating wounding at Maryborough

Police are investigating the wounding of a man at Tinana yesterday afternoon.

Around 1pm yesterday, a 43-year-old man was approached by another man at Scholtz Park and an altercation took place.

During the altercation, the man stabbed the 43-year-old man with a knife and stole his bag. He then ran from the scene.

The victim walked a short way to seek assistance for his injuries before collapsing on a soccer field. Nearby workers rendered first aid while emergency services responded.

The 43-year-old man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his abdomen.

It is believed that the men are not known to each other.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen a man with long dark hair, dark clothing and no shoes in the area, to come forward.
