Police Involved Shooting At Vincent

Police have shot a man following an incident in the Townsville suburb of Vincent this afternoon, January 28.

Police were called to a Lillipilli Street residence just before 4.30pm following reports of an armed man in his 20s making threats.

Upon arrival, a man allegedly armed with a knife was located inside the house and confronted police whilst making threats.

Initial investigations indicate the man moved towards police. Responding police gave multiple warnings but as the man continued to advance on them, he was shot.

Medical assistance was immediately rendered.

The man was transported to the Townsville University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

No police officers or members of the public were physically injured during the incident.

A crime scene has been declared and an investigation is ongoing.

The matter is under investigation by the Ethical Standards Command, with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
