Police involved shooting, Russell Island

A man has been shot by police during an incident on Russell Island this morning.

Just before 9am, police were called to a disturbance involving an armed man with a bladed weapon on Ranora Avenue.

Despite first aid being administered, the man in his 30s died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established as investigations continue.

This matter is under investigation by Ethical Standards Command on behalf of the State Coroner.

That investigation is subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
