Police Launch Bushland Search for Missing Woman in Hunter

Police are re-appealing for public assistance to locate a woman missing from the state's Hunter region.

Meilee Chen, aged 68, was last seen in Birmingham Gardens on Thursday 24 April 2025.

When she could not be located or contacted, officers from Newcastle City Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Police and family hold concerns for Meilee's welfare as she lives with medical conditions that require medication.

Meilee is described as being of Asian appearance, about 150cm tall, of a thin build, with black hair.

She is known to frequent the Martins Creek and Birmingham Gardens areas.

As investigations into her disappearance continue, officers from Newcastle City Police District, along with support from the State Emergency Service, will this afternoon commence a search of bushland near Birmingham Gardens, in an attempt to locate Meilee.

Police have also released photos of the most recent confirmed sightings of Meilee at Martins Creek and Warabrook railway stations captured on Tuesday 15 April 2025.
