Police lay armed robbery charges at Browns Plains, Heritage Park

Police have charged a man with several offences including armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle after a pizza delivery driver was allegedly robbed and his car stolen at Browns Plains last night (February 4).

It will be alleged the 18-year-old driver was robbed by a man on Browns Plains Road at around 8.30pm, when the driver was returning to the store.

The man threatened the driver with a firearm (later turning out to be a gelblaster) and stole his car. The 18-year-old was not physically injured.

The man left behind a vehicle which had allegedly been stolen earlier during a robbery at Heritage Park.

Police with the assistance of Polair tracked the stolen vehicle with a successful tyre deflation deployment occurring at Riverview at around 9.10pm.

The vehicle came to a stop soon after on the Logan Motorway at Gailes where the male driver and sole occupant was arrested without incident.

Detectives have charged a 21-year-old Browns Plains man with five offences including two counts each of armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count of enter premises with intent to commit an indicatable offence.

He has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday morning (February 6).

Police will allege the vehicle left behind was stolen earlier during an armed robbery of a Waller Road, Heritage Park convenience store at around 00.15am yesterday (February 4). No one was physically injured during the robbery in which a man armed with a knife stole cigarettes and a vehicle.
