Police Lay Armed Robbery Charges At Ipswich 5 August

Detectives from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two men following the alleged armed robbery of a tobacconist in Yamanto on July 29.

It will be alleged between 8pm and 9pm, a group of people entered the Warwick Road business and threatened a staff member with a knife before stealing a quantity of tobacco products.

On July 30 and August 1, detectives executed search warrants at addresses in Riverview and Raceview where they arrested two men in relation to the robbery.

An 18-year-old Riverview man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and possessing dangerous drugs (cannabis). He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear before the Ipswich Magistrates Court on August 16.

A 19-year-old Raceview man has been charged with armed robbery. He was issued a notice to reappear before the Ipswich Magistrates Court on August 16.

Investigations are continuing to locate the other people involved.

Investigators continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward.
