Police lay armed robbery charges at Sunshine Coast 25 October

Police have charged a 24-year-old Gympie man following investigations into two alleged attempted armed robberies at Alexandra Headland and Maroochydore on Saturday.

Police will allege on October 22 the man attended a business on Alexandra Parade, Alexandra Headland at about 3.45pm wearing a facemask and black hooded jumper before producing a knife, demanding money from staff and fleeing with a quantity of cash.

At about 5.30pm police allege the same man attended a business on Aerodome Road, Maroochydore where he produced a knife and attempted unsuccessfully to perform a robbery.

At about 7pm investigators located a 24-year-old Gympie man at a Parker Street address, and he was subsequently charged with one count each of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, unauthorised dealing with shop goods and possessing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine).

The man was denied police bail and he yesterday appeared before the Maroochydore Magistrates Court where he was remanded in custody to re-appear on December 2.
