Police Lay Arson Charges, South Brisbane 18 July

A 42-year-old man has been charged with arson offences following an investigation into a fire at a South Brisbane house yesterday morning, July 17.

Police were called to a Mollison Street property around 12.45am yesterday to reports of a house on fire.

The house was completely gutted by the fire.

Three occupants, one 23-year-old South Brisbane man and two 22-year-old South Brisbane men, exited the premises without injury.

It is alleged the house fire is linked to a vegetation fire that occurred in a garden bed around 1:30am on Hocking Street.

Following investigations into the fires, detectives arrested a 42-year-old South Brisbane man yesterday afternoon. He was charged with four counts each of arson and one count of setting fire to vegetation and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, July 18.
