Police Lay Arson Charges, Whitsunday

Police have charged a man following an alleged vehicle arson in Strathdickie yesterday, August 14

It will be alleged around 5pm, a 53-year-old man, set fire to a green Ford Ranger parked in a carport at a Laurina Drive address, following a dispute.

Witnesses towed the vehicle out of the carport before the residence sustained significant damage.

Emergency services extinguished the fires and no one was injured during the incident.

A 53-year-old Strathdickie man has been charged with one count each of arson and common assault.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear before Proserpine Magistrates Court today, August 15.
