Police have charged a man following an alleged sexual assault at Kirwan, on January 6.
At 6.45am the 39-year-old woman was walking her dog along the Blacks Weir Park walking track, when she was approached by a man on a bicycle.
The man allegedly made inappropriate comments towards the woman before pushing her to the ground and punching her in the face.
The woman freed herself and the man ran from the scene on foot.
The woman was treated for minor facial injuries.
An 18-year-old Douglas man was charged with one count of assault with intent to commit rape.
He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on January 7.
