Police Lay Assault Charge At Mackay

Police have charged a man following an alleged assault in Mackay on Tuesday morning, September 24.

It is alleged around 8.30am, a man and 12-year-old boy, who were not known to each other, became involved in a physical altercation on River Street, before the man left the area on a motorbike.

The 12-year-old boy sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mackay Base Hospital.

Officers from Mackay Child Protection and Investigation Unit arrested a 54-year-old Mackay man yesterday, September 25.

He has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and wilful damage.

He is due to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court on October 14.
