Police lay assault charges at Surfers Paradise

Police have charged three men in their 30's following an alleged assault at a Surfers Paradise address this morning (June 26).

Police will allege two New South Wales men, aged 28 and 30, were walking along The Esplanade with several women, when three men commenced a verbal altercation and assaulted the two men before fleeing on foot.

Police were called and apprehended three men a short distance away, a 31-year-old Caboolture man, a 31-year-old Strathpine man and a 32-year-old Zillmere man.

They were each charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company.

The two men were transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening bruising and swelling.

The men were bailed to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court July 11.
