Organised Crime Squad detectives have charged a man and seized 1kg of opium, with a street value of $45,000, as part of an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.
In March this year, detectives from the Organised Crime Squad, with assistance from the NSW Crime Commissioner (NSWCC), established Strike Force Eulo to investigate the large-scale supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives, with assistance from Raptor Highway, arrested a 52-year-old man during a vehicle stop on the Hume Highway near the overpass at Glenlee Road, Menangle, yesterday morning (Wednesday 16 June 2021).
During a subsequent search of the Toyota, police located and seized 1kg of opium, which has an estimated potential street value of more than $45,000.
A short time later, police executed a search warrant at a unit at North Parramatta, seizing cannabis, and prescription medication.
The North Parramatta man was taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity) and two counts of possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Thursday 17 June 2021).
Investigations under Strike Force Eulo are continuing.
