A man will appear in court today charged with commercial drug supply after detectives seized 65kg of cannabis allegedly hidden inside arcade machines in Sydney's south west.
Last year, detectives from the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Shaughnessy to investigate the activities of a criminal syndicate operating across Sydney.
During the investigation, police received information relating to the commercial supply of prohibited drugs.
Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), arrested a man following a vehicle stop at the intersection of Camden Valley Way and York Street, Casula, about 2.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 8 April 2020).
In a subsequent search of the Pantech truck, officers located about 65kg of cannabis hidden inside four arcade machines.
Shortly after the arrest, officers executed three search warrants at homes in Harrington Park, Edmondson Park and Glenfield.
During the searches, police seized $25,000 cash, an air rifle, a taser, a Rolex watch, electronic storage devices and mobile phones.
Police also seized three vehicles including a 2015 AMG Mercedes Benz, 900g of cannabis and 200g of cocaine.
The 39-year-old man was taken to Liverpool Hospital before being taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity) and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime intent to conceal.
Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the commercial supply of cannabis across NSW.
The Gregory Hills man was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 9 April 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Shaughnessy are continuing.
