A man will face court today charged after a man was hospitalised in critical condition following an assault at a beach on Sydney's Northern Beaches earlier this month.
Emergency services were called to Delwood Beach, Fairlight, about 4.30pm on Sunday 10 January 2021, following reports of an assault.
Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, and found a 26-year-old man suffering head injuries near the rockpools.
The injured man was at the beach with friends when two of them were allegedly assaulted by a male following a verbal argument, causing him to fall backwards with his head striking the ground.
He was treated by paramedics and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery before being discharged yesterday (Tuesday 19 January 2021).
Detectives commenced an investigation and following inquiries, executed a search warrant at a Lane Cove home yesterday, seizing clothing relevant to the investigation.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at Chatswood Police Station about 12pm.
He was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, five counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal).
The man was refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court today (Wednesday 20 January 2021)
