Police lay charges after Brunswick deaths

Squad detectives have charged a Brunswick woman following the deaths of two men

in Brunswick yesterday.

Emergency

services were called to a Hope Street property about 5.20am on Thursday 5 May,

following reports of a stabbing.

A

61-year-old Coburg man died en route to hospital, while a 59-year-old Brunswick

man was located deceased at the address.

A

44-year-old woman was discharged from hospital this afternoon and interviewed

by police.

She

has been charged with two counts of murder and has been remanded to appear in Melbourne

Magistrates' Court on 29 August.

Homicide

Squad detectives continue to appeal for public assistance to locate the driver

of a dark coloured ute with tool boxes on the rear and a snorkel attached to

the driver's side.

Detectives

believe that the woman was given a lift from the Brunswick area and dropped

near the corner of Lygon and Pigdon Streets in Carlton North around 5.40am that

morning.

At

this time there is nothing to indicate that person was involved in the incident

and is being treated as a witness only.
