Police Lay Charges After Hoppers Crossing Stabbing

Westgate Alliance Taskforce detectives have charged a man following an alleged affray and stabbing in Hoppers Crossing last month.

Emergency services were called to Mossfiel Drive in the early hours of the morning on Saturday 23 November, where a man was allegedly located with injuries.

A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

A 16-year-old boy also self-presented to hospital a short time later with suspected stab wounds. He was later released from hospital.

Nine men were arrested at the scene, and after being interviewed were released while detectives continued to investigate the incident.

Yesterday evening, detectives arrested a 19-year-old man from Hoppers Crossing, who was one of the nine arrested on the night.

The man was subsequently charged in relation to the alleged stabbing of the 16-year-old boy. He was charged with intentionally cause injury, affray, assault with a weapon and possess controlled weapon.

He has been remanded by police and is expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
