A man has been charged following an investigation into a fatal single-vehicle crash in Sydney's west last month.
About 6.10pm on Friday 30 July 2021, emergency services were called to Lysaght Road at Wedderburn, following reports a vehicle had crashed and rolled.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, a 33-year-old Ambarvale man died at the scene.
A 33-year-old Glen Alpine man sustained critical injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains.
The driver – a 33-year-old Buxton man – sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command, together with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 33-year-old Buxton man at a business at Wetherill Park about 7.15pm yesterday (Friday 27 August 2021).
He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving (occasioning death), negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm) and not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 - COVID-19.
The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 28 August 2021).
