Police Lay Charges After Marketplace Scams

Manningham Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a woman in relation to a number of Facebook Marketplace scams.

It is alleged the 37-year-old from Donvale offered a number of high-end fashion items on social media from April until May.

At least 20 people purchased items from the seller, paid but never received the goods.

Investigators have been told the victims are from all over Australia and at this stage the deceptions are in the thousands of dollars worth.

The woman was arrested by detectives on 12 June at her Donvale home and has been charged with 25 counts of obtain property by deception.

She has been remanded to appear at Ringwood Magistrates' Court today.
