Charges laid after five police officers were injured following a brawl outside a hotel in Potts Point overnight.
Police were called to the hotel on Bayswater Road about 11.20pm (Saturday 19 October 2019), responding to reports of a disturbance after a man was removed from the premises.
An affray has broken out involving a large group of people, with officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command assisted by the Public Order and Riot Squad.
Paramedics treated people at the scene for the effects of OC spray.
Five officers were taken to hospital and have since been discharged. A male sergeant was treated for a fractured elbow and a torn bicep, a male constable was treated for a dislocated jaw, a second male constable was treated for a fractured nose, and two further male constables were treated for concussion and bruising.
Six people were arrested and taken to Kings Cross and Surry Hills Police Stations.
A 34-year-old Airds man was charged with affray, cause grievous bodily harm to police officer on duty reckless as to actual bodily harm, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm (x4), assault officer in execution of duty (x2), and resist officer in execution of duty.
A 25-year-old Ambarvale man was charged with affray and possess prohibited drug.
A 24-year-old Ambarvale woman was charged with affray, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, assault officer in execution of duty, resist officer in execution of duty, wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty, and excluded person remain in vicinity of licensed premises.
They were refused bail to appear at Central Local Court tomorrow (Monday 21 October 2019).
A 22-year-old Airds woman was charged with affray, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, assault officer in execution of duty (x2), and destroy or damage property.
She was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 20 October 2019).
A 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were released pending further inquiries.
