Police Lay Charges After Pedestrian Dies At Peakhurst

A man has been charged after a pedestrian died after being hit by a SUV in Sydney's south.

About 5.45pm yesterday (Friday 2 August 2024), emergency services were called to Forest Road and Pritchard Place, Peakhurst, and found a 63-year-old critically injured after being struck by a vehicle.

She died at the scene.

The driver of the 4WD – a 48-year-old man – was taken to St George Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from St George Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police.

Following inquiries, the man was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he has now been charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

He was refused bail and appeared in Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 3 August 2024), where he was formally refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Friday 9 August 2024.
