Police lay charges after road rage incident - Greenacre

An unaccompanied learner driver has been charged following an alleged road rage incident in Sydney's west earlier this week.

About 5pm on Monday (15 February 2021), a black Ford Territory SUV and Hino Pantech truck stopped on Noble Avenue, Greenacre, after the truck allegedly failed to indicate at a roundabout.

The Ford driver, a 30-year-old man, exited his vehicle and approached the truck driver, a 23-year-old man, who was seated in the truck.

Police have been told the men engaged in a verbal argument, before the Ford driver allegedly hit the windscreen and damaged a mirror.

As the truck left the scene, it's alleged he side swiped the SUV and struck the Ford driver, who sustained a fractured rib and other soft tissue damage.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, the 23-year-old man was arrested at a home at Greenacre about midnight (Wednesday 17 February 2021).

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, negligent driving, learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester, fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury, not give particulars to injured person, and not give right change of direction signal in roundabout.

The Greenacre man was granted conditional bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday 3 March 2021.

His licence has been suspended.

Inquiries are continuing.
